Mike Amesbury Member of Parliament for Weaver Vale
About Mike
It has been an honour to have been re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Weaver Vale in December 2019, after having first been elected in the 2017 election.
Prior to becoming an MP, I’ve had a career both in and out of politics: I spent a long time working in careers services, helping to get young people into jobs. I also worked as a local councillor in Manchester City Council, served as a trade union activist, and worked for Angela Rayner and Andy Burnham.
Previously, I’ve served as the PPS to the Shadow Work and Pensions team and as Shadow Employment Minister. From 2020-2021 I worked as the Shadow Housing and Planning Minister. More recently, I served as Shadow Local Government Minister as part of Lisa Nandy’s shadow team, before I resigned in order to concentrate on helping my constituents through the cost-of-living crisis.
I tirelessly speak up for local residents in the House of Commons and hold regular surgeries to help local constituents.
