As usual we got more spin from Boris Johnson when he launched his ‘Bus Back Better’ fund that was supposed to herald a revolution in bus services across the country.

Liverpool City Region, which covers Halton, applied for £667m from the Bus Service Improvement Plan and was given just £12m.

Cheshire West and Chester Council submitted ambitious £37m bus improvement plans and received a big fat zero.

We haven’t got ‘Bus Back Better’ as promised. The reality is there’s very little substance to it whatsoever with services continuing to be cut in my constituency.

You can’t create a bus service revolution based on slogans.
